About Illinois Wine Month (September)
Each September is Illinois Wine Month, a major statewide celebration of local winemaking proclaimed by Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich in 2005. September is the traditional harvesting season when vintners begin the winemaking process, and Illinois celebrates by inviting residents and visitors to discover the riches of Illinois Wine Country with wine tastings, grape stomps, art showcases, music festivals and much more.
With gorgeous weather and a plethora of festivities taking place throughout the state, September in Illinois is a great time for a wine vacation.
Travelers take advantage of the weather and events to plan multi-day getaways to enjoy the wine and scenery, but area scenery, inns, bed and breakfasts and suites.
